In
Systems Design, the third phase in developing, implementing and upgrading a
clinical information system, there are three parts taken care of, namely:
Functional Specification, Technical Specification and Implementation Planning.
"So we all agree on a Hawaiian Overload pizza?"
Functional
Specification
- Formulation of a detailed description of ALL system inputs outputs and
processing logic required to complete the scope of the project.
- It includes also data manipulation and output review. Starting point for
developing testing plans for verification of the software.
Technical
Specification
- Done to make sure that technical components of the proposed system work
in concert with technology and end-user needs and to assist in the development
of the implementation plan.
-
Four Elements:
1.) Hardware
2.)
Interfaces
3.)
Software
4.) Conversions
Implementation
Planning
-
Development of a detailed implementation plan.
-
Contents of the Plan:
1.) Personnel
2.)
Timeframes
3.) Costs
and budgets
4.)
Facilities and equipment required
5.)
Development or implementation tasks
6.)
Operational considerations
7.)
Human-computer interactions (interfaces)
8.) System test plan
